ABOUT THE AUTHOR

This blog is a collection of information I have gathered from peers, educators and friends in the fitness industry. I have siffed out the information that I truly believe in. It is in no way meant to educate but inform. I hope that my readers will find this information useful and share it with their friends. Just like how I am sharing it with you. Now go get strong.

Firstly, let me introduce myself. I am Ashraf.

Let me justify my very cheesy blog title. I was short, weak and fat through out my life, until I was 17 where a major life event changed me forever.

I was the epitome of the Rubber Band Metaphor. I was pulled so hard that I stretched back with a vengeance. I joined a uniform group called National Cadet Corps (NCC). I could not do a single push-up and they exploited my weakness until I snapped

This was taken when I was 14 years old. Short, weak and fat indeed. Please don’t ask me what I was trying to do. Until this day, I don’t know what I was doing.

I could not take the shit they gave me every week. I decided to head to the gym and get stronger. (hence the name fromweaktostrong) Within a few months of training and research, I could do 10-15 pushups and was literally a different person. (Braces helped too)

This was when I was 18 years old. I miss this particular pair of boxer shorts. It totally matched (contradicted) my skin colour!

I decided to undertake a Diploma In Sports & Exercise Sciences after Secondary School. I wanted to know more about the effects of exercise and how  it makes one a better person not only physically but mentally as well. I just finished my 3 years and graduated recently.

Oh yeah I graduated on a wheelchair. I got injured by a motorbike accident. Yeah I know I’m hopelessly stupid.

Oh yeah I have a second passion. It’s called Bikes! I had a few minor injuries so far due to my carelessness and stupidity. 2 hairline fractures on the same place of my fibula. One in 2011, another one in 2012. I am into Dirtbiking now and I love it!

My humble and trusty Yamaha Wr200. Love 2 strokes.

I also love philosophy and quotes. It started with my Dad. He would always tell me these cheesy lines such as ‘A Carpenter Doesn’t Blame His Tools’, ‘ Luck is when Preparation and Opportunity meets’ and the like. Let me share with you a few of my favourites.

“So never refuse an invitation, never resist the unfamiliar, never fail to be polite and never outstay the welcome. Just keep your mind open and suck in the experience. And if it hurts, you know what? It’s probably worth it” – The Beach

“Talent is God given. Be humble. Fame is man-given. Be grateful. Conceit is self-given. Be careful.” – John Wooden

“If you’ve ever been hungry, you’ll never be full.” – Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson

“Hold your own, Know your name and go your own way.” – Jason Mraz

“Sucking the marrow out of life doesn’t mean choking on the bone.” – Dead Poets Society

“Through physical training I have been afforded opportunities that would not have been possible without the strength and confidence I have developed. With physical strength comes ability. And with ability comes confidence. And with confidence comes the courage to take on challenges. I am so passionate about fitness because I know that being fit means far more than having a low body fat or strong muscles. Being fit will help you lead a more productive life” – Martin Rooney

So to sum it up, My purpose of this blog is to help people live a better life. I want people to truly live. I hope my blog inspires you even in the slightest of ways. If it does, I can go to sleep knowing that I have positively affected another person.
